1967 Ironhead Harley Sportster Basket Case - Great Project Motorcycle
by Powell
I have a 1967 Ironhead Harley Sportster Basket case for sale that will be a great project motorcycle or restoration for somebody! My dad was the bike's one owner and he owned it since it was new. It's been sitting for over 20+ years and is ready for someone to bring it back to its former glory.
'67 was the first year that Harley Davidson introduced the electric start on Sportsters so this one has both a kick start and an electric start.
I would love to keep it for myself but I just don't have the mechanical skills or tools to build it myself.

and then come back after you calculate what just the parts would cost individually!
I took it to my local motorcycle shop and had it torn down there only to learn that it was going to cost more than I expected to rebuild it so the project died.
The
Harley motor and transmission are currently inside 4 Rubbermaid storage containers in the garage. The frame rolls and I move it around so that I can clean the area and I'm tired of this.
The engine and the tranny for the
Ironhead Sportster for sale is completely torn down but all the parts are there.
They cut the connecting rods during its dis-assembly and I do not have the title since it has not been registered since before 1992 (the year DMV records went digital). The DMV has no record and they told me to get a replacement title. To do that I would have to bring it in for a safety inspection and since the
used Harley motorcycle parts are currently divided into four boxes; that would be a little difficult.
The
1967 Ironhead Harley Sportster Basket Case would make a great project motorcycle for someone with more time and skill than I have.
