1973 Harley Davidson Ironhead Project For Sale

The 1973 Harley Davidson Ironhead Project For Sale is a 1973 Harley Davidson sportster ironhead chopper project. This is a complete motorcycle including all parts that has yet to be built.

This kit includes the best parts that I could find. I welded a hardtail onto the original frame so you should be aware that this is not a collector's motorcycle. However,
it is registered the numbers on the Ironhead's frame and engine all match.

SEE MORE HERE

The story behind this project is that I bought the ironhead sportster back in 2009 and rode it "as is" for all of that year. When winter rolls around I took the motorcycle apart, got rid of the front end and rear swing arm parts,
welded on the hardtail, set up a new big twin rear wheel and disk brake and then
stopped work on the project because of a back injury.

This old Ironhead ran like a top after having been built up by the previous owner.

I have tons of pictures of the 1973 Harley Davidson Ironhead sportster. Some of the photos show what it was before I tore it down. It's hard to see in those pics but all of the motorcycle's chrome and aluminum was covered in rust and pitted. The motorcycle had been sitting for six years in a shed before I bought it.

I installed the battery, drained the fuel tank, filled it with fresh gas and it cranked right up.

It was amazing to see that even in that condition that it ran like a top. I never had a problem with its performance and still don't except, it's a project now.

I wish I could be with whoever builds it. A lot of people bullshit about whether their old motorcycles run, but I'm not. I guarantee that this one not only runs but it runs well With no smoke and no engine noises. It's tight with an 1100 top end. The motor was rebuilt just before the girl parked it. She put about five hundred miles on it after the re-build and I put about a thousand on it myself after that.

I know everything the 1973 Harley Davidson Ironhead Project For Sale needs to put it together right. I have built two others including a 1973 Triumph Tiger chopper in a hardtail and a 1975 Harley Davidson sportster ironhead also a hardtail chopper.

The Ironhead sold to a couple in Tennessee in an eBay auction for 9 grand. I delivered it to them in parts because I didn't have the papers. I took it apart and marked each piece and part and the new owners built it back up. I got the papers three months later and then sent them to them.

This project is registerd here, in my name so all that is left for the new owner to do is just build it, insure it and ride it, no inspection, dont even think it needs aircare because of age.

I spent a year buying the best, sweet parts for this bike including a New frontend dyna narrowglide polished frontend, dual disk brake set up. I had the brake calipers polished,
bought newer style bar, switches and controls and had them polished also.

I all new chrome lighting, specialty signals, brake tombstone, and headlight one piece elephant head style front end for a Sportster that is very hard to find. It's all heavy chrome not cheap tin style stuff plus the billet alluminum forward controls, plus a Corbin gunfighter seat with red flames stitched in
red and 3.5 gallon fat bob fuel tanks.

There are literally boxes and boxes of new or used high end parts in excellent condition that include a spare new starter even though the old starter works fine.

The parts alone cost me about 8 grand.
The frame and engine are all that is left of the original motorcycle.
