Specs and Facts on the 1979 Harley Davidson Lowrider
The Harley Lowrider was introduced at Florida's Daytona Bike Week. Called the FXS, it was Harley's first "factory customs" models, many of which were so popular with Harley lovers that they are highly coveted among Harley collectors and aficionados. In addition to the bike's low seat height, that first model Harley LowRider included raised white letter tires, drag bars, mag wheels, and the ever popular and often duplicated two-into-one slash-cut exhaust. Coupled with shorter rear shocks and 1" longer forks, the 1979 Harley Davidson Lowrider was huge hit with bikers everywhere and inspired Willie G. and his gang to churn out more custom models. This is a trend that continues to this day and is one of the many reasons that Harleys are still one of the biker community's favorite motorcycles.
