1988 Harley Davidson Electra Glide
The 1988 Harley Davidson Electra Glide had jet-coated Samson True Duals installed early in 2009. The mufflers are stock so the motorcycle is really pretty quiet.
I've recently put on new tires on the 1988 Harley Electra glide and it currently has 53,000 miles on it. I've owned the motorcycle for 4 years and it has been a great bike.
Go here to see more
prices and then please look at the photos, you will notice that it has a hollow fairing like the ones that came on the old Shovelheads. To clarify the meaning of that accessory, there's no stereo and the gauges are mounted in the old style.
UPDATE: The bike is definitely still for sale but after I posted this classified, it developed carburetor started giving trouble after the bike had sit over the winter. I thought I had all the gas run out of it but apparently not. Anyway, the short story is that I finally bought an S&S carb for it and WOW what a difference! Also, when I first posted the ad, the bike had the original mufflers even though the pipes were true duals. Hey, it was quiet. Now I have some really sweet sounding mufflers. It is still rather quiet but sounds awesome - like a Harley should.
Also, I have a jack for the bike AND I bought a 1000lbs rated work stand that I got from Harbor Freight. These will go with the bike because I have no need for them.
I personally prefer this set up and have never seen the need for a stereo on a motorcycle. In my opinion tunes are for (cages)cars and trucks.
DUE to the bike's age and mileage, the paint and metal has developed a "patina." You will see that there are numerous little scratches and dings in it here and there. I have never treated this motorcycle like a
show bike. This motorcycle has been used for FUN and RIDING rather than as a showpiece on a pedestal.
The 1988 Harley Davidson Electra Glide for sale is in excellent condition and the base gaskets are good so there is no leaking oil onto the lower case.
It has a slanted cooler good for keeping drinks cold that Harley made for one of the saddlebags. It also comes with a Harley motorcycle cover to keep the dust off of it when you're not riding.
The windscreen that you see in the pictures is old and suffering from pretty serious discoloration and crazing. I recently ordered a brand new one from Appleton's and it should be here soon plus I have a brand-new shorter aftermarket windshield that came from Custom Chrome.
I like to use the shorter screen in the summer and then swap back to the original style when the weather turns cool.
My asking price is $8000 and I have a clean title. If you want to buy the bike, I'll have to write you out whatever kind of paperwork will make you feel secure OR, you could approach Harley credit about taking over the notes.
