CONSUMER REVIEWS AND COMMENTS ON THE 2003 BMW F650 GS Dakar.

Question:

I recently bought a 2003 BMW F650 GS Dakar but have no idea what the fuel requirements are. The information on the fuel cover indicates regular, 87 AKI and the Riders Manual indicates regular octane rating 91 (RON) and 81 (MON) and then the promotional brocure recommends the use of premimum fuel. My local BMW motorcycle dealer says try them all until I see which one makes it knock.

Can anybody tell me what is AKI, RON, MON?

The average of 91 RON and 81 MON is 87, so 87 should work fine. One of my biker friends has a 2001 BMW GS and he's been running 87 for years with no problems. He keeps his bike well maintained and in perfect condition. If he says it works for him, it's worth a shot.
