Black and White Nautical Star Tattoo

My black and white nautical star tattoo is on the top side of my right foot. It's about two inches in diameter.

When I made the decision to get a tattoo, I knew that I wanted a tattoo that would have personal meaning. Ever since my mom died in 2000, I always thought of her when I saw the North Star. It's the brightest most noticeable star in the sky and it's always there right above me always watching over me.

I felt that this star symbolized my mom, always there and always bright. That's the kind of mom she was. It gives me hope and a sense of ease.
I also looked up the meaning of the North Star (nautical star) and the story is that sailors used it to guide them when they were at sea. It was a sign of hope and finding your way. I am so glad that I got my nautical star tattoo.
