How to Fix my 1974 Harley Davidson AMF Golf Cart

Can somebody tell me how to fix my 1974 Harley Davidson AMF Golf Cart? I just finished rebuilding the golf cart's engine, piston, rings bearings seals, etc. The problem is that the cart runs turbo when in reverse but when it's in forward it needs choke to get it up to speed.

I have tried every setting on forward and reverse timing and point setting between 22 to 25
thousand. I have ruled out the carb as the problem because it runs fine in reverse so it stands to reason that it should also run good in forward PLUS I installed the piston with the exhaust mark on top of piston facing the exhaust.
