1958 Triumph TR650 Back Firing Problems
by: Mike

Wondering if I can get help with my 1958 Triumph TR650 Back Firing Problems. I am having a problem with my 1958 TR650 back firing which started with a blown head gasket that was caused by jug having a low area in between the two cyc.

I had it milled and also had the valves ground and seated. I put it back together and adjusted the timing which was a real pain.

The carb old Mikuni was ready for a replacement so I bought a brand new Mikuni kit and put it on.
I selected a set of jets, cranked it up and still have a problem with back firing when I accelerated.

Low end, change jets, adjusted points and I am at the end of my rope. I just can't seem to solve the problem.

Does anyone out there have any ideas on how I might fix my 1958 Triumph TR650 Back Firing Problems?

I found this web site pretty interesting.

Thanks

what did you mess with?
by: Chance Gardner

First question is what did you mess with? It's either the Idle or the Mixture screw. Is it a AMAL carb? are you running twin carbs . Is it late model or vintage.

1969 Triumph Carburetor Problems
by: tommy mcdaniel

I have the exact problem with my 1969 Triumph. Everything was running good until I messed with the carb a little bit. I went and bought some carb cleaner and I hope that will help some.
