AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE OLD INDIAN MOTORCYCLE I LEARNED THAT ONLY ABOUT 942 OF THESE MOTORCYCLES WERE MADE BETWEEN THE YEARS OF 1956-59 SO IT'S A PRETTY RARE MOTORCYCLE.

If it is still up for sale.

If it is all there and is still up for sale, it would make a awesome first project bike and great to go to rallys on when finished.

If it is still for sale, email me at lovebeyonddeath2010@yahoo.com.

Bought one for $2200
by: Anonymous

Bought a running version 1956 Indian Tomahawk 500 twin for $2200 from an Ohio dealer, a few months back. It did have a Yamaha front end, and had two blown head gaskets, but it was an easy restore. There is another running version for sale in San Francisco for $2500, submit offers.

no parting out
by: Anonymous

Sorry but no i will not split it up. I had hunted all over and paid dearly for all the parts. It is not a total basket case. Motor and primary are still intact and on the motorcycle frame.

Fork/tubes/shocks have been rebuilt. The old seat on the Indian Tomahawk for sale was stripped to recover and I even have the leather for that.

The gas tank has been primered for painting and the wheels and fenders are still on the bike.

Check out re-indian.com he does carry some old Indian motorcycle parts.

1956 INDIAN MOTORCYCLE BASKET CASE
by: Anonymous

Basically what you have here is a 1956 Indian motorcycle basket case, right?

If you can't sell it as a whole project bike (which I would love to have but can't afford it right now) you might consider parting it out since some old Indian motorcycle parts fetch pretty penny, or so I'm told.
