It was stated that the cart ran fine in reverse and not forward. I have a 1985 Columbia par car cart that had the same problem, someone else diagnosed the problem for me = the points looked like they had a good spark and I had correctly gapped points / however we found out that the points were shorting out within themselves = replaced points and it ran great in forward and reverse.
