I had a '75 GW and loved it. I only sold it to buy my first house, 15 years ago. I rebuilt the motor -- don't actually remember why, but I do remember that it was easy. The only mechanical flaw that bothered me was the fuel pump was located at a hot place and would vapor lock on hot days.
Not exactly quick, but it would hustle.
