Motorcycle enthusiasts should make plans to attend the 6th Annual Memorial Benefit Motorcycle Run for the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum to enjoy a spring tour of Oklahoma City at the Sixth Annual Memorial Benefit Run on April 20, 2013.
The memorial run is the brainchild of David Dunn, owner of Margarita Island in Oklahoma City, OK and members of the Heartland Heat Chapter of the Wind and Fire Motorcycle Club whose membership includes both active and retired Oklahoma City Firefighters.
The majority of the members of the Wind and Fire club served as heroes in the rescue and recovery efforts during the Oklahoma City bombing and all event organizers wanted to find a way to give back to the Memorial to help teach the lessons learned in Oklahoma City to generations of visitors.
"The Memorial is a place of resilience and strength, and we wanted to honor that in a way that celebrates life – those we lost and those changed forever by their experience," says Dunn. "Riding for us is a celebration of life and we are excited to be able to ride in support of the Memorial."
The run begins at Papa's Leather in Bethany on April 20, 2013. Plans are for participants to make stops throughout Oklahoma City, including a special stop at the Memorial to place a wreath at the Field of Empty Chairs.
The first motorcycle out leaves at noon and
the last motorcycle in is at 6pm. A concert at Margarita Island featuring Black Oak Arkansas providing top quality musical entertainment will follow the run after several fun stops throughout the city. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third best hands and the worst hand.
Registration is will take place from 10am to 12 noon and is $20 for a single rider and $30 for double riders.
