The Harley Davidson Electra Glide offers one of the most comfortable rides on the road today and that's comparing it to other Hawgs in the bargain. Not that this bike is for old dudes, but if you have any issues with back problems or an old lady that doesn't appreciate a rough ride this is the model to try. Harley doesn't advertise it as being an ergonomically superior choice. I can say that it does offer extremely good riding position. The seating is low to the ground allowing you to balance yourself firmly with your feet at stops.
With this Harley Davidson Electra Glide you will enjoy easy handling even at lower speeds and smooth sailing through the curves. While packing plenty of power, this ride is geared for long hauls on the open road. Don't expect the jack rabbit starts that are offered by crotch rockets. If zipping the city streets at high rates of speed is your thing, try a sportster.
Another amenity for traveling comfort is the addition of protective fairings along with side shields below the left and right fairing protrusions. These help to prevent the riders from being beat up with excessive airflow that can prove exhausting after many hours.
If your plans involve twisting back country roads don't expect to put high gear to use. To stay in high a maintained speed of about 50 should be maintained.
With every benefit of every kind there is always a downside. In this case that would be the fact that this is a heavy piece of machinery. When parking this bike, planning ahead will be beneficial. Think ahead and plan to make circumstances easy on yourself.
In case of a breakdown, don't even dream of considering pushing this big daddy up a hill unless you are in really good physical condition. I would advise coming up with an alternative plan of action. Pushing this bike is darn near impossible to do. Do yourself a favor, avoid a ruptured disc or a hernia and just use the CB or cell phone and call a buddy for roadside assistance.
In review, many consider the Harley Davidson Electra Glide one of the best motorcycles they have ever owned. It may not suit every biker's lifestyle, but it's my opinion it deserves a place in everybody's travel plans.
If you want a sportier look, add a custom motorcycle paint job and some chrome and you will really shine on the highway.
