1946 Indian Chief Motorcycle Restored
What we have here is a picture of a beautifully restored 1946 Indian Chief motorcycle that featured the new hydraulic shock dampened girder front end, a sprung rear and the front brake lever that is unique to the 46 model.
This Chief was the only model offered after the end of WWII that had the new hydraulic shock dampened girder front end. This featured in combination with the sprung rear, made the ride much more comfortable and enjoyable than that of the previous years.
This Indian was one of the company's very low production selections with less than 7000 units having been manufactured which was about half of what Harley produced.
The one in the above picture shared by Dave of Defiance, OH has a speedometer, amp gauge, exhaust tail hanger, correct vintage fuel tank emblems. According to his review, this beautifully restored
1946 Indian motorcycle runs, starts and stops as well as it did when it rolled out of the "Wigwam" Indian Motorcycle factory back in the day.
