The dirt bike has a working trip meter and speedometer.

This vintage motorcycle even comes with the original toolkit, and original valve stem caps.

When 1985 XR200R was for sale in 1985 the dirt bike came in just one color but that paint color was a winner called Flash Red.

The fuel tank decal was white and blue and really stood out against the red paint. The wing shaped decal on the plastic fuel tank was red, white, and blue. The yellow color of the front number panel and side panels was another standout against the red motorcycle frame and black engine.

In contrast, the dirt bike's rear tool bag and motorcycle seat were blue and the "XR" graphic on the seat was white. The "PRO-LINK" swingarm decal and the fork boots were blue.

Standout features of the 1985 Honda XR200r were its pro-link rear suspension, twin carburetors and twin head pipes.

The engine of the XR200r was an OHC, RFVC single cylinder displacing 199cc with a replaceable oil filter that was linked to a 6-speed transmission.

The serial number for this model began JH2ME0507FK100001.

The XR200 R will need an air filter and a headlight bulb. The overflows leak some fuel when it sits, which would be an easy fix

simply by readjusting the floats. Other than that, it needs nothing and runs and shifts great.

I recently bought a 1985 Honda xr200r and even though it's my first dirt bike I love it and find it to be quite a nice bike. So far I haven't had any problems with it and it runs great. The air filter hadn't been changed for ages judging upon how it looks so hopefully no severe damage was done - the foam filter was basically disintegrated and only three chunks were left.

I'd love to find some new side covers for the bike as they're broken, a new/original seat and perhaps advice on how to restore the look of the plastic gas tank. Any advice/direction would be greatly appreciated! My email address is Kayla.Herbert@ryerson.ca

XR200R interchangeable with XR250R
by: Doug

Your best bet is ebay. You can also use parts for the 1985 xr250r RFVC engine as they are identical except for the cylinder bore.

I just bought a 1985 xr200r RFVC for my wife and after rebuilding the carbs and adding synthetic oil it runs great! My bottem end is from an XR250R - based on the engine ID - so I know the parts are interchangeable.

I too, have a honda xr200r that at the current time am trying to rebuild. I have learned that honda has discontinued the crank and the head gaskets for these years of bikes. I have tried many sites searching for a rebuild kit including ebay but have had no luck at all. Does anyone out there know where to find a proper kit for the rfvc motor. My name is steve and my email account is steves-place@hotmail.com
